These are some of the best weed killer products you can pick up at a garden shop or hardware store.

  • Green Gobbler Vinegar Weed & Grass Killer. This product uses acetic acid, the main component of vinegar, to kill weeds. This product, however, uses a highly concentrated form when compared to table vinegar. This high-strength vinegar can be purchased separately, however, if you want to make your own weed killer!
  • Natural Armor Weed Killer. This product uses an organic formula that is non-toxic and biodegradable. The bottle comes complete with a sprayer and can be applied immediately to your lawn or garden.

Best DIY Weed Killers

These products can be made at home.

DIY Weed Killer Recipe

This is one of the most reliable weed killers. You’ll need vinegar, borax or salt, and dish soap. If you use regular food-grade vinegar (with 5% acetic acid) you can use a full gallon; if you use the strong stuff (20% acetic acid) you’ll need about a quarter of that.

Mix the full gallon of vinegar along with a cup of either salt or borax and a tablespoon of dish soap. Put the mix into a spray bottle and apply liberally to the plants.

Remember that even though this is an all-natural recipe, it’s non-selective which means it’ll kill any plants it comes into contact with. So, be careful!

Hot Water

It’s also possible to use hot water to get rid of your weeds. Water is accessible to nearly everyone, and all you need to do to turn it into a weed killer is heat it up.

Simply boil the water and take it outside. Pour it on the weeds. This should be enough to kill them. If you want to be certain, however, bring outside a separate bowl or pot.

After you’ve poured the boiling water on the weeds, put the upturned bowl over top of them. This will trap the rising water vapor and effectively steam the weeds.
